Frequently asked
Does it work offline?
Yes. The catalogue, serial-number identification, your collection, and the trivia quiz all work without an internet connection. The only feature that needs network is iCloud sync — and that runs in the background whenever you're online.
Does my collection sync between my iPhone, iPad, and Mac?
If iCloud is enabled for Red Dot Tracker in your device's Settings → [your name] → iCloud, your favourites and collection sync automatically across every device signed in to the same Apple ID.
Which cameras can the serial-number tool identify?
Barnack-era bodies (Leica I onwards) and the full M-series, from M3 through every current model. Lens identification covers every M-mount and SL-mount lens with a published serial range, from 1923 to today.
The Q, S, X, R, and TL series are present in the catalogue, but serial-to-year lookup coverage for those families is limited — public reference data is patchier. Expect it to improve in updates.
Where does the product data come from?
Public sources: Leica's official tech-data PDFs, Leica Wiki, cameraquest, the Leica Camera Forum, Sartorius' Leica M Cameras, the Hove Pocket Book, and Erwin Puts' Leica Compendium. Every entry in the app carries its source attribution.
Is this an official Leica app?
No. Red Dot Tracker is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Leica Camera AG.
I spotted incorrect data. Can you fix it?
Yes, please tell me. The product database is curated by hand from public references that sometimes disagree with each other. If you have a credible source for the correct figure, send it to hello@reddottracker.com and I'll update the next build.
Can I export my collection?
Export is on the roadmap. In the meantime, your collection lives in your iCloud and travels with your Apple ID automatically.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. That removes the on-device copy. If you used iCloud sync, sign in to iCloud.com, open Drive, and remove anything stored by Red Dot Tracker — or sign in to a device with iCloud enabled and delete the app from there.
Will you add Brand X / Camera Y?
No. Red Dot Tracker is Leica-only by design. There are excellent multi-brand gear trackers in the App Store; this app is for people who want depth on one brand instead of breadth across many.

Send to the same address. I read every one. Be specific: "I wish I could filter the catalogue by maximum aperture" beats "more filtering options".
